Supported diet options

Energy restricted

The energy restricted diet is based on the nutrition guidelines for overweight and obesity [1]. This means that this diet applies a calorie restriction of 600 kcal per day. Recipes that are going to be selected will automatically have a lower caloric value.

Energy & protein rich

This energy- and protein rich diet can be suitable for people who need to gain weight and strength in a healthy way. This could be, for example, when you are underweight, recently underwent surgery, or currently are undergoing heavy pharmacological treatment.

Fat restricted

The fat restricted diet within the Verdify ID is recommended for people who need to reduce their fat intake. When following this diet option, total fats will be limited and unsaturated fats, also known as healthy fats, will get priority over saturated fats.

Healthy eating

Verdify has based its healthy eating diet on the British Eat Well Guide [1]. This guideline reflects what a healthy diet is according to the current scientific literature and therefore aims to prevent chronic diseases for the general population [2, 3].

FODMAP friendly

The FODMAP friendly diet within Verdify is based on research from Monash University [1]. It is meant to help provide food options for those trying to reduce FODMAP intake as part of managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms [2, 3]. With this diet option, only foods containing no FODMAPs or lower quantities of FODMAPs will be included.

Low salt

The low salt diet within the Verdify ID can be used by people who want to lower their salt intake. Verdify’s healthy eating diet is based on the national salt recommendation of maximum 6 grams of salt per day [1]. When following the low salt diet, this will be limited to a maximum of 5 grams per day. A reduction in salt is for example advised for people with high blood pressure or severe overweight [2].

Mediterranean

The Mediterranean diet within the Verdify ID is based on the principles of the Mediterranean diet [1]. It is recommended for people who need to improve the quality of fat intake and the intake of calcium- and iron-rich products.
